Millennium
2000 elements in each sculpture
To celebrate Earth’s 2000 revolutions around the sun we decided to make a series of sculptures using 2000 natural elements in each work. The process of collecting and counting the 2000 items became a kind of mantra for us as we progressed.
The sculptures were made in various locations including wild beaches, volcanic vents and mountainsides and the materials returned to the natural system from which they came after we had made the photograph.
For an international calendar we chose 12 of the images, one for each month.
