The joy of making something for nothing
Making useful or beautiful things from waste discarded by others has become a regular thing with us.
I found some quarter round glass shelves at our recycle centre which sparked an idea for a sculpture about the conflict between linear and circular design. Like many of our ephemeral sculptures this one was designed to reflect in the still water of our studio pond completing the circle and reminding us that materials should circulate rather than enter the waste stream. It appears different with various light and weather conditions bringing everchanging joy.
